Cavern of the Crustaceans

From RaidWiki

a.k.a Crab Raid

Adventure Pack: Fallen Dynesty

Tier: 7 (x2 Raid)

Level Reccommended: 68+ (Preferably 70)

Location: Small island off the main Docks, Island of Mara.

General Information

On the island there is a small rock, down near the water which you can click to zone in the whole raid. Its on the same side of the island as the Village.

The zone inside is small, with only 'Bonesnapper' (a.k.a The Crab) inside. When you zone in, the crab isn't agro. When the raid is ready, the MT right clicks the crab and chooses to "Disturb the Crab". Make sure nobody else does this!

Things you need to know

There is a zone lockout of 8 hours for failure, or 3 days for success. DO NOT revive while in the zone, you'll find yourself outside and locked out!

If you're failing and want another go at the crab, somebody who can FD and rez the raid is a must. (After the crab has re-set, of course.)

The crab spawns adds. The instant the MT agro's the crab, 4 other Heroic crabs will spawn and rush the raid. At between 10-20% health, the crab will spawn 4 more adds, that rush the raid. If your DPS exceeds 5k, you will get 4 more adds spawn. Slow but steady wins the race, as they say! 3-4k dps is probably a good rate to keep damage at, for safety.

The Crab has a cold based AoE. Gear yourself up for maximum cold resists and dont worry about other stats (except possibly mana regen). I've been in there with 10k+ Cold resist and still been hit by the AoE. The AoE has two effects... Damage and Mana Drain. Stand close, and you get Health Damage, far away and you get Mana Drain. There's supposed to be a 'sweet spot', range you can stand at where you take neither type of damage. Stand in the mid-range, and you'll be hit partly by both effects. If you're taking more health damage than mana drain, step back, and visa-versa to find the sweet spot.

Mana regen spells/toys/poisons are your friends. Have them in the raid. Without them, your chances are limited.

You'll want a Main Tank, and an Offtank setup. DPS is less of a priority in this raid.

Fighting the Crab

Bonesplitter

First, Positioning: As you zone in, the crab is ahead of you. There are two sets of wooden supports, left and right. The crab is near the right set. Have the MT move behind the crab, to the wooden supports, and tank there. Move the raid left, and have them stand on the rock which juts out of the water. Position the offtank in the water just (and I really do mean just) ahead of the raid. This positions you ready to intercept the first wave of adds, you'll need to move to avoid AoE later (see 'sweet spot', above), and move back to these positions to intercept the final set of adds at 10%, as described below.

The Fight: Make sure the Offtank is ready with a group taunt to get the adds (they're linked to each other, but not to the named). Have the MT agro the crab. Catch the Adds. Burn the adds (mana will soon be gone if you don't, anyway) Move DPS to the Named, keeping in the 3-4k dps range

At 20% life, MT stays put, raid moves back to initial positions ready to intercept the adds. Have MT ready to deal with mem-wiping name. (All this actually happens at about 10% life on the name)

Mez adds if you can, and single target kill swiftly as remaining mana allows.

Return DPS to name and remove the last 10% of his health... try not to get over-enthusiastic and hence generate yourself another set of adds by breaking through 5k dps :)

Good Luck with the Fight!
